Tichasiyana Wonder MaponderaNON-EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN

Mr. Tichasiyana Wonder Mapondera

Mr Mapondera brings a wealth of experience in teaching, training, strategic innovative business management and leadership from various organisations. He was a lecturer and Head of Agricultural Education Department at Belvedere Technical Teachers College in Harare from 1983 to May 1990. From June 1990 to September 1993 he was a Senior Training Officer at the Agricultural and Rural Development Authority where he ran several management courses to middle and senior managers. From December 1994 to June 2000 he was with the Standards Association of Zimbabwe as a Divisional Manager and subsequently Administration Manager. He briefly taught at the Zimbabwe Open University before joining the Scientific & Industrial Research and Development Centre in December 2000 as a Research Scientist in the Biotechnology Research Institute and rose to the position of a Director in the Farming Operations Department. From 2008 to date he is the Executive Director of the Zimbabwe Farmers Development Trust.

He holds, among other qualifications, a Masters Degree in Management (Cranfield University, U.K.), Bachelor of Education degree (UZ), Diploma in Marketing Management (Harare Polytechnic), Postgraduate Diploma in Agricultural Education (University of Reading, U.K.), Diploma in Standardisation and Management Techniques (Swedish Standards Institution, Stockholm) and is a qualified Lead Auditor of Quality Management Systems (British Standards Institution). He is a full member of the Institute of Marketing Management (IMM) and the Zimbabwe Quality Association (ZQA).


Mr Vurayai Guvakuva

Mr. Guvakuva, a holder of a Masters in Business Administration and Post Graduate Diploma in
Business Management both from Nottingham Trent University, Bachelor of Technology Accountancy
Hons degree from University of Zimbabwe, Chartered Secretary and Administrator (CIS)
and Chartered Management Accountant (CIMA) brings to the Champions board a wealth of
experience having worked for big companies at Executive management level.

Mr. Guvakuva began his working career in 1993 as an Accountant in the Ministry of Finance. He
also worked as Head Office Accountant as Industrial Development Corporation, Treasury
Accountant at Zimphos Industry, Corporate Accountant at Philips Electrical, Head Finance and
Administration at REA Unit (ZESA) and rose through the ranks to become the Chief Executive for
Rural Electrification Agency.



Mr Farai Manjokota

Mr. Farai Manjokota, a seasoned and vastly experienced Finance professional, began his working
career at the National Audit Office in 1993. In 1995 he joined Fidelity Life Company Limited as an
Internal Auditor. Mr. Manjokota’s career took him to ZB Financial Holdings where he served as an
Internal Auditor from1997 to 2002.

Mr. Manjokota worked as an Accountant/Finance Manager at ZB Asset Management Company
from September 2002 and was elevated to the post of Chief Financial Officer in June 2004. Mr
Manjokota was the Acting Managing director from November 2006 until his promotion to the post
of Head Retail Investments- a position he holds to date. He is a qualified Chartered Management
Accountant and Chartered Secretary.



Mr Ashilly Ashton Debwe

Ashton Ashilly Debwe, is a member of the Law Society of Zimbabwe and SADC Lawyers’ Association, is a sole partner in the firm of Debwe & Partners Legal Practitioners, Harare, Zimbabwe, where he has practiced law for the past 27 years. He holds a BL(Hons) and an LLB from the University of Zimbabwe and also a Diploma in Theology from AMFC College, Zimbabwe.

He has practiced in Zimbabwe as a Legal Practitioner, Notary Public and Conveyancer since 1990. Mr Debwe’s practice currently specialises in commercial and construction disputes, corporate law, family law issues, conveyancing, legal drafting and vetting of contracts, providing legal opinions and other legal documentation mainly but not limited to the following areas, contract law, commercial law and insurance law. He has extensive experience of a wide range of disputes and advisory work relating to infrastructure, engineering, building and mining projects in Zimbabwe. He is a former Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee of the Zimbabwe Football Association of Zimbabwe and also a former member of its Players’ Status and Ad HOC Committees. Currently he sits on the Boards of Champions Insurance Company (Private) Limited, Skinners Autobody (1980) (Private) Limited, Excel Property Development (Private) Limited and Mbuya Dorcas Hospital, in Zimbabwe. He also sits on the Council of the Zimbabwe Ezekiel Guti University and is a former Chairman of the Christian Legal Society, Harare Chapter, Zimbabwe.

As a result of his involvement mainly with commercial and family law litigation over the years, he has contributed in some way towards the development of jurisprudence in Zimbabwe.




Mrs Alice Motsi

Mrs Alice Motsi is the Marketing Director of Eckil Investments. Her career spans over 20 years beginning with the then Ministry of National Affairs, Employment Creation and Cooperatives as an Administration Officer, the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority as a Revenue Officer, and The Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe as a Senior Exchange Control Analyst. Currently, she is studying for a Master Degree in Srategic Marketing with the University of Zimbabwe.




Mrs Tambu Madzivire

Tambu Madzivire is a holder of Bachelor of Commerce degree in Insurance and Risk Management from the National University of Science and Technology. She is also a holder of a Diploma in Insurance from United Kingdom (ACII) and a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Eastern and Southern Africa Management Institute. She brings with her a wealthy of insurance experience having worked in all facets of short term insurance from insurance broking, direct underwriting as well as reinsurance. Tambu Madzivire has both local and regional experience having started her career in 1995 at Diamond Insurance Company. In 1997 she moved to Zimnat Insurance Company. She moved to Grand Reinsurance Company where she worked as the General Manager before she founded Dynamic Insurance Brokers in 2008 where she was the CEO. She left Dynamic in 2010 to join the United Nations Development Program, AMSCO arm, in the West African Country of Nigeria where she was the Reinsurance Consultant for Adic Insurance Company. From 2012, she came back to Zimbabwe and joined Credit Insurance Company Zimbabwe as the Head of Operations before moving to Champions Insurance Company where she is currently working as the Managing Director.Tambu Madzivire has over 15 years of Management experience and 11 of which were at executive level.
